Lingayat religion tag issue: BJP MLAs united, says BSY

Davangere: BJP state president B S Yedyurappa claimed that MLC Basavaraj Horatti has been indulging into selfish politics by misusing the separate religion status for Lingayats to his advantage.
Addressing the gathering at the Renuka Mandir today, Yeddyurappa said that Horatti was making confusing statements by stating that BJP MLAs support the demand for separate religion tag to Lingayats.
He also said that the granting of separate religion status to Lingayats was held adhere to the opinions of Siddaganga seer Shivakumar swamiji and Akhila Bharata Veershaiva Mahasabha.
BSY said “Unnecessary confusion is being created by Horatti by uniting the BJP MLAs on the separate religion tag. It is the work of Congress to split castes and society”.
MLC Basavaraj Horatti has fixed a date for the public debate on the issue of separate religion tag to Lingayats at the Rudrakshi Mutt, Belagavi.
A meeting mutt seers was held to decide whether to attend Horatti’s meeting at the Rudrakshi Mutt, Belagavi on the issue of separate religion to Lingayats or not.
Prasanna Renuka Veerasomeshwara Swamiji of Rambapuri Peetha, Balehosur Dingaleshwara Swamiji, Channasiddarama Panditharadhya Swamiji of Srishaila mutt, were present.
