Will not accept ministerial berth: Sowmya Reddy

Bengaluru: The newly elected MLA of Jayanagar Sowmya Reddy, daughter of former Home minister Ramalinga Reddy, said that she isn't a aspirant of ministerial berth.

Addressing journalists after her victory against BJP's Prahlad, Sowmya stated, "I have a wish to make Jayanagar as a model Vidhana Sabha constituency. My social work in my constituency is additionally one reason for my triumph. This is the triumph of my father, family and each party worker,"

"In spite of the fact that it was Ramzan season, the Muslim brethren have worked for the party. JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and CM H D Kumaraswamy too have upheld me in this election. I thank the voters in my constituency for choosing me and regarding me as their own daughter," she included.

On a media inquiry about her father not getting ministerial post, she stated, "My father did not wish for any post. He isn't an aspirant of ministerial berth. Voters have elected him 7 times as a MLA and he worked hard for the party. He never left his party and in the event that he doesn't get a ministerial post, it is a loss for the party,"

"I won't take ministerial post if the party offers me. I need to serve people of my constituency. Neither I nor my father has asked for ministerial post. My father has worked effectively during his term as minister. Give us a chance to work to make this a model constituency," she included.
