10,000 applications pending under RTI

Bengaluru: The pending of applications under Right To Information (RTI) Act has been lessened in the State and at present around 10,000 applications are pending. 

This was expressed by the State Information Commissioner K.M. Chandre Gowda here on Friday.  Addressing mediapersons subsequent to leading a court, he said all applications recorded before the commission till 2017 have been disposed off. 

“Just those recorded with impact from January 2018 are pending before the commission,” said Mr. Gowda. 

In answer to an inquiry the Commissioner said Karnataka was route in front of different States in preparing applications and dispersal of data looked for under the RTI. 

Prior in the day he discarded 16 of 30 cases which preceded the commission, most relating to authorities not giving imperative data inside an unequivocal time allotment. While guiding the authorities to agree to the data looked for according to the RTI Act by the candidates, the official cautioned that neglecting to do as such could prompt inconvenience of punishment upto ₹25,000. 

In this unique circumstance, he said a punishment was articulated on three authorities for not outfitting data looked for under RTI Act within the predefined time constrain. Mr. Gowda additionally took an interest in a workshop on RTI Act led for authorities and Government staff.
