Belagavi (Ktk): Citing Karnataka High Court’s strong stand against disfigurement of public places, state Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar Thursday sought removal of flex banners put up here welcoming political leaders for the ongoing winter session of the state legislature.
Ponting to the high court’s order in August this year directing removal of illegal hoardings and banners in Bengaluru, Kumar asked the state government to direct the city corporation to remove the banners here.
Before someone files a PIL and court issues order, get them removed lets not wait for court to issue direction, we too have respect. So get them removed,” he said.
Kumar made the observations during the proceedings of the House which is in session now.
Hearing a public interest litigation, the court had come down heavily on the Bengaluru civic body for not acting against unauthorised hoardings and banners at public places.
