Poisoned prasadam case: Toxin type found out

Chamarajanagar: The forensic report regarding the poisoning of the prasada at the Maramma temple in Salwadi grama of Kollegala taluk has come from the FSL and reveals that the poison used in the crime was an insecticide, informed Mysuru South Zone IGP Sharath Chandra.
Mr Chandra addressed reporters and said that the toxin used in the prasadam was Monocrotophos and has been confirmed by the FSL report. The poison in question belongs to an Organophosphorus Group.
The insecticide is used on infected plants and to keep away insects that spread a disease or spoil the crop. There is a suspicion that the insecticide must have been mixed in water and then added to the prasada, said the IGP.

In connection to the case, already 11-12 persons have been arrested. All clues have been collected. At the present stage, the entire information cannot be divulged, since it can cause problem to the investigation, informed IGP Sharath Chandra
