Sumalatha files nomination papers, Cong, JD(S) workers accompany her

Mandya: Sumalatha Ambareesh who is contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections as an Independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha seat, filed her nomination papers at Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Wednesday

Sumalatha, wife of late actor-turned-politician Ambareesh took the decision to contest as an Independent after Congress leadership chose to give the Mandya seat to its alliance partner JDS. She will be contesting against Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of HD Kumaraswamy who is the JD(S) candidate for Mandya seat.

Hundreds of Sumalatha’s supporters, including party workers of Congress and JD(S) accompanied her when she arrived to file the nomination.

Sumalatha will address her supporters in a convention later today.
