Rare Halo Around Sun Surprises Kumbhashi Residents in Kundapur

Kundapur: In a rare natural phenomenon residents of Kumbhashi in Kundapur witnessed ‘22 degree halo' on Friday afternoon. In the optical phenomenon, rainbow encircles the sun and creates a rare view to the observers.

According to the experts, the light is refracted at an angle of 22 degrees by the water, ice particles, which make the space colorful. The halo usually appears in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. The phenomenon also occurred as a result of refraction due to the ice crystals in cirrus clouds at a height of 20,000 feet from the sea level.
