16-year-old arrested for collecting donation in church’s name

Kasaragod: Badiyadka police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on the allegation of collecting donations by issuing fake printed receipts to the donors in the name of St Mary’s Nursery School, Bela, which is being administered by Our Lady of Dolours Church, Bela.

The police have intensified investigation on the suspicion that  there might a large scale gang operating on this ‘Modus Operandi’.

A few merchants grew suspicious when the boy was in the course of collecting money from merchants at Seethangol and therefore contacted Bela Church.  The church officials immediately visited the spot and found out that the receipts being issued were fake and consequently lodged a complaint with the police. The police arrived at the location and the minor was arrested.
