28 years after Sister Abhaya’s murder, priest and nun found guilty

Kerala: After 28 years, a CBI court in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram pronounced its verdict in the Sister Abhaya murder case, it stated that both the accused, Father Thomas Kottoor and nun Sister Sephy, are guilty.
Sister Abhaya, a class 12 student was found dead inside a well at the Pious X Convent in Kottayam, Kerala in 1992. Initially, the case was ruled as a suicide by the local police and the crime branch but it was handed over to the CBI after several protests. It is said that Abhaya was witness to an alleged “immoral activity” at the convent.
