5G upgrade fraud: Police alerts public

Mangaluru: Days after 5G mobile communication system was introduced in India the city Police have alerted the public that online fraudsters may take the advantage of this.
The online fraudsters might introduce themselves as representatives of companies and say that they will update the SIM cards from 4G to 5G, and ask for the OTP which will be used to transfer money from the account.
The police have therefore urged the public not to give OTP under any circumstance or click the link sent.
Meanwhile, Cyber security expert Dr Anantha Prabhu said, “No OTP verification is needed to upgrade SIM cards from 4G to 5G. No one should have doubt about this.”
