Udupi: Minister for Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary said that mass marriages will be organised at six temples from undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

The state government had on October 31 announced that mass marriages, aimed at helping those from financially weak background would be held at select 100 ‘A’ category temples.

Speaking to reporters here, Poojary said that Kollur, Mandarti, Kota Amriteshwari, Kateel, Subramanya and Someshwara temples are among the 100 temples selected for the purpose. A circular in this regard will be issued on Monday, November 11, he added.

Questioned about former CM Siddaramaiah’s proposed foot march in Dakshina Kannada to promote communal harmony, Poojary pointed out that Siddaramaiah had participated in a foot march to protest illegal mining at Ballari but ended up supporting those very people after he came to power.
