Allahabad : The Allahabad High Court today, acquitted the dentist couple, Nupur and Rajesh Talwar of murder charges of their 14 year old daughter Aarushi Talwar. The couple were awarded life sentence by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad on November 26, 2013
Aarushi was found dead in her bedroom, just days before she turned 14. The police initially suspected Hemraj, the family’s Nepalese domestic help, for her murder, but two days later he was found dead on the terrace of the same building.
The court has acquitted the Talwars on the grounds that there was no concrete proof against them. However, the mystery of who killed Aarushi and Hemraj continues.
It has been reported that Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were not in the courtroom when the verdict was announced. They were watching the proceedings from Dasna jail, where they have been lodged since being convicted in November 2013.
Aarushi’s maternal grandfather says that he is grateful for the judgment and always knew that Rajesh and Nupur were innocent.
