Malpe: Adventure sports including cliff diving, fly board, scuba diving, etc., have been attracting large crowds at the Malpe Beach Festival. Efforts are being made to continue these even after the festival ends.

For the first time in the state, a 25-foot high safe cliff diving facility has come up at St Mary’s Island off the Malpe Coast. Slackline walk (rope walk) will also be a major attraction for tourists.

The flyboard facility at the beach will continue for some more days after the end of the festival, MLA K Raghupati Bhat said and said that the administration is ready to hold Asian Watersport Championship if given an opportunity.

The National Open Water Swimming Championship was held on Saturday morning at Malpe beach. As many as 150 swimmers participated in the competition in the open category.

The Beach Utsav held on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the formation of the Udupi district will conclude on January 22.
