Amul celebrates Amazon MGM deal with topical ad, says ‘Bezos gets the lion’s share’

Known for its light-hearted billboards and topicals, Dairy brand Amul on Saturday, in it’s latest advertisement celebrated Amazon’s acquisition of the iconic Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) Studios in a USD 8.45 billion deal.
The cartoon, titled ‘My Golden Makhan’ with the MGM letters marked in golden ink, features Amazon Founder founder Jeff Bezos standing next to Leo, the eighth lion, that is being used in the MGM logo since 1957. The lion has Amazon’s swoosh logo on his smile with an accompanying caption ‘Bezos gets the lion’s share’.
Taking to Twitter to share the quirky campaign, amul wrote “#Amul Topical: Amazon buys MGM in a major media deal!”
Announcing the merger agreement with MGM on Wednesday, Amazon said they plan to “reimagine and develop together with MGM’s talented team”, stories from the vast catalog of the studio which has almost a century-old history in filmmaking.
Metro Goldwyn Mayer, better known as MGM, has over 4,000 beloved film titles, including “12 Angry Men”, “Basic Instinct”, “Creed”, “James Bond”, “Legally Blonde”, “Moonstruck”, “Raging Bull”, “Rocky”, “Silence of the Lambs”, “Thelma & Louise”, “Tomb Raider”, “The Magnificent Seven” and “The Pink Panther”, in its vast library.
Known for its roaring lion logo, MGM is one of the oldest Hollywood studios, founded in 1924 when films were silent.
