Despite being one of the underrated herbs, vetiver has numerous benefits for the skin and can be used as a natural coolant and cleanser.  In fact, it is a good skincare product but minus the negative effects of chemicals.

Vetiver grows on riverbanks up to an altitude of 600m. It requires a hot and humid climate. It is adaptable to a wide range of soil and climatic conditions. It can be established on very acid, sodic, alkaline, or saline soils. Vetiver tolerates very high levels of aluminum, manganese, and a range of heavy metals in the soil.  Due to its extensive and deep root system, vetiver is very tolerant of drought.

You may have used vetiver roots knowingly or unknowingly as essential oils from vetiver roots are used to make soaps, hand washes, perfumes and sherbats/syrups. They also have a common application in the medicine industry for their cooling and anti-bacterial properties.
