Ankola: Fake currency racket busted; Four arrested

Ankola: Ankola police busted an inter-state fake currency racket and arrested four persons.
The accused have been identified as Praveen son of Rajan Nair, Lloyd Lawrence Stewis and Pranoya Fernandes of Madgaon in Goa, Larson Lewis Silva of Patroda in Goa. The prime accused in the racket, Mushtaq Hasan Baig resident of Kodibag in Karwar is absconding, police added.
The police conducted a raid based on a tip-off that fake currency notes and demonetized currency were being exchanged in front of Bhadra Hotel in Kodibag in Karwar.
During the raid, 26 fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, 40 genuine Rs 500 denomination notes, and a scooter used by the accused were seized.
A case has been registered in the Ankola police station in this regard.
