Ballari: Miscreants chase, murder rice trader

Ballari: In a horrific incident, a rice trader was mercilessly hacked to death by miscreants near the Radio Park circle in the city on Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Kunta Manjunath, a resident of Kolimi Bazaar.

Superintendent of Police Saidulu Adavath told reports that two unidentified persons came on a bike and assaulted Manjunath. The victim tried to run away, but the miscreants chased and bludgeoned him to death.

The whole incident was captured on CCTV cameras, the SP said adding that the culprits are being traced based on the evidence.

A case has been registered at Cowlbazar police station regarding the incident.

The SP further said that Manjunath had several cases pending against him related to several illegal activities including the ‘Matka bookie’ business, and illegal transportation of rice. His background is being investigated to know the motive for the murder.
