Bantwal: 37-Year-old man killed by falling coconut tree

Bantwal: A man died as a tree fell on him while cutting coconut trees at Nayila in Shamboor village here on Sunday, January 9.

The deceased has been identified as Yatiraj, 37, son of late Poovappa Poojari, a resident of Bettugadde, Nayila.

Yatiraj had taken a contract to fell coconut trees at a local farmer’s coconut farm. One of the trees being cut fell on him. Severely injured, he was immediately taken to the government hospital in Bantwal, but he was pronounced brought dead.

It is gathered that Yatiraj had gotten married only four months back.
