Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta launched a sero survey to be conducted to determine the number of antibodies present against coronavirus.
Blood samples of 1,000 vaccinated and 1,000 non-vaccinated individuals will be collected for the survey. Of those 2,000, 50% will be above 18 years of age, 30% under 18 and 20% above 45.
The blood serum sample and throat swab will be collected from individuals identified through the door-to-door survey conducted by the BBMP’s Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, and laboratory technicians.
The while the swab will undergo an RT-PCR test and the serum sample will be tested at a laboratory. The survey will help BBMP implement rules to further prevent the spread of Covid-19 as it will show how many people have been infected, how many have not been infected, and how many have antibodies.
