Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to charge a penalty of Rs. 500 from those who fail to separate the dry and wet waste at source.

As per reports, the efforts by BBMP to educate citizens to separate waste turned out to be a failure as only 20% of citizens in the city are segregating waste at the time of disposal.

This new policy will be implemented effective January 1.
