A block development officer (BDO) and three others were arrested on Saturday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) spokesperson said.

BDO Netram posted in Rajgarh, and middlemen Lokesh Meena, Krishnkant Meena, and Jaipratap Singh had demanded bribe of Rs 9 lakh to clear outstanding bills of Rs 14 lakh of the complainant.

The complaint was verified earlier, when Netram took Rs 20,000. After the incident, the ACB officials hatched a ruse that led to the three accused getting caught in the act.

A case has been registered against all three under the Prevention of Corruption Act and their premises are being searched.
