Belagavi: Four children drown in agriculture pond

Belagavi: Four children fell down into an agriculture pond and died at Ajjanakatte village in Gokak Taluk in Belagavi district on Saturday, April 4.

The deceased are Bhaggavva Jakkanavara (6), Thayavva Jakkanavara (4), Malappa Jakkanavara (4) and Rajashri Jakkanavara (3). All children belonged to one family of Kareppa Jakkappnavar village.

As per sources all the victims had gone to the farm near their home in the village to play and a mobile phone in one of the kid’s hand fell in the farm pond after which the kid got down to pick the phone, all the others followed and drown in the pond.

The grandmother who came looking for the children found out the kids had drowned, she soon called the villagers and removed the kids out of the pond. However, it was too late all the kids had died by then.

A case in this regard has been registered with the Gokak Rural police.
