A 45-year-old man had to undergo surgery after he accidentally swallowed a metal idol of Lord Krishna while taking the theertha prasadam.

The man had not noticed the copper idol of the deity and unknowingly swallowed the same. The matter came to light when he approached doctors after experiencing throat pain while eating food.

As there was a swelling in his throat, the doctor advised him to do an X-ray before prescribing any medication. The X-ray revealed that the Lord Krisha idol was lodged in his throat.

He was referred to KLE hospital in Belagavi for surgery. An endoscopy procedure confirmed the X-ray findings whereafter, the ENT doctors performed surgery to remove the idol from his throat.
