Belagavi: Teen murdered over dispute on Instagram; one held, three minors detained

A 17-year-old was allegedly murdered by four persons, including three minors following a dispute that began on Instagram in the limits of Kittur police station.

The deceased body has been identified as Prajwal Sunkada, a resident of Mallapura village.

Police said that the accused had created a fake account in the name of a girl and were sending messages to Sunkada, who was active on Instagram.

When Sunkada found out that he was being taken for a ride, he verbally abused the accused. Angered by this, the accused ganged up and quarreled with Sunkada on September 26 evening. Later they attacked him with machetes.

A seriously injured Sunkada was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police on Thursday informed that have arrested a person and three other minor boys have been detained in connection with the case.

Further investigation is on.
