Belagavi: Woman gives ‘mangalsutra’ to traffic police as fine

Belagavi: A 30-year-old woman in Belagavi district of Karnataka gave her ‘mangalsutra’ to the traffic police as she did not have money to pay the fine for a traffic violation.
It is said that the woman identified as Bharati Vibhooti, had gone to the city market with her husband on their motorcycle for buying a cot. The couple had Rs 1,800, bought the cot for Rs 1,700 and spent the remaining money on breakfast.
“I told the cops that we had spent the last ₹100 we had on breakfast, but they insisted that we pay,” the woman said. The woman and her husband were allowed to leave later.
