Beltangady: Labourer killed after tractor carrying iron rods topples, falls on him

A 32-year-old man died after a tractor, laden with iron rods overturned and fell on him here on Wednesday December 7.
The deceased, Lokesh from Chikkamagaluru was employed as a labourer for the construction of retaining wall work of vented dam at Bangarapalke of Elaneeru under Malavanthige village.
The truck was carrying iron rods meant for use in the construction work. Reportedly the truck driver lost control over the vehicle causing it to overturn and fall on Lokesh who was walking beside the truck.
A seriously injured Lokesh was rushed to Kalasa hospital but he died en-route. Truck driver Deepak and another labourer sustained injuries in the mishap and are said to be in stable condition.
It is gathered that the locals had to walk for quite a distance to make a phone call to Kalasa for ambulance service due to lack of mobile network in the area.
A case has been registered at Beltangady police station.
