Belthangadi: Day after police raid, 7 held for prostitution from lodge

Belthangadi: Police on Tuesday arrested seven persons, including five women for carrying out prostitution at a lodge in Ujjire.

The arrests were made a day after police issued a stern warning to lodge owners to keep a check on illegal or criminal activities.

Based on the tip-off given by the activists of Rashtriya Hindu Jagran Vedike, police conducted a raid at the lodge on Tuesday evening and arrested seven persons.

As per the police rampant prostitution activities are being carried out at the lodges in the area. An investigation is underway to bust the human trafficking gang.
