Public has expressed outrage against teachers of a government school in Belthangadi for failing to attend to a class 4 student who sustained a head injury while playing on the school premises.
As per reports, though the boy was bleeding due to the injury he sustained in the fall, the teachers at the school did not administer first aid. Rather the teachers directed other students to give him first aid. He was later taken to a local hospital where he was given treatment.
A video of the other students giving first aid to the injured student has gone viral on social media drawing ire from parents and locals.
Following this, the school committee convened a meeting of teachers on Saturday to prevent a repeat of such incidents.
Reacting to the incident Belthangadi constituency education officer Virupakshappa said that the school teachers should not have behaved in this manner. He also assured that he will visit the school and discuss the issue with the concerned officials.
