Belthangady: Grenades found near wire fence at Ilanthila; case filed

Belthangady: Five grenades were found placed near a wire fence at Ilanthila, Belthangady Taluk.

It is said that a man named Jayakumar found the grenades at around  6 pm on Saturday, November 6, near the left-hand side of the wire fence while he was walking towards his house from Uppinangady.

He said that one of the grenades was covered in yellow plastic and four were lying on the ground. Grenades are estimated to be around 40 years old.

A retired SCO of the army, Jayakumar was able to identify the grenades, and realizing the danger it posed to unsuspecting animals he took them to the verandah of his house and later informed the police.

He has urged the police officials to take strict action against the miscreants.

Further investigations are underway.
