Belthangady: A complaint has been filed against a man for allegedly sexually harassing a 6-year-old girl in Belthangady.

The accused identified as  Narayana Naika is the neighbor of the victim.

On July 8, Naika allegedly offered the child sweets and invited her home. He then sexually assaulted the girl.

The girl informed her family members but the mother chose to not file a police complaint. A compromise was reached on this issue. However, Naika continued harassing the girl.

Angered over this, a group of youth attacked Narayan. On seeing the assault, a man named Jarappa tried to intervene and stop the fight. But in the melee, he too got injured.

Jarappa and Narayan Naik were later taken to a private hospital in Ujire. However, Jarappa was declared brought dead.
