Belthangady: Rescuers find body of man who went missing while fishing

Belthangady: The lifeless body of a man who had drowned in the Nethravathi river here while fishing was recovered on Tuesday, December 27.
The deceased, Janardhana Gowda (42), a resident of Mogru village, had gone missing when fishing on Monday evening.
Janardhana had gone along with his friend Mahesh to the Nethravathi River at Mugeradka for fishing. He had got down at a place where a dam was under construction, due to which mud was accumulated in the riverbed. However, Janardhana, who got down into the river, went missing.
A search and rescue operation was launched on Monday night. The mortal remains were found on Tuesday.
On the other hand, his friend Mahesh, who had accompanied Janardhana kept mum about the matter. It is learned that he later went to a bar and was consuming alcohol. At this point in time, Janardhana’s relatives and friends reportedly beat up Mahesh and forced him to show the spot they were fishing.
Meanwhile, the Uppinangady Police have registered a case and investigating the matter. The mortal remains have been shifted to a hospital in Deralakatte for an autopsy.
MLA Harish Poonja visited the bereaved family and expressed his condolences.
