Mangaluru: A section of Gadayikallu hilltop fort collapsed on June 23, Sunday morning.
The portion of the fort on the eastern side collapsed suspectedly after being struck by a lightning. Small slabs of stone, which fell from the fort were seen lying on the ground
Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja visited the spot upon receiving the news. He instructed officials from Mines and Geology Department as well as Forest Department to inspect the fort.
