Belthangady: Despite heavy rains, a huge crowd gathered for shopping at the weekly market here causing a long traffic jam on the main road on Monday.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary was also stuck in the traffic. He was to inaugurate a vaccination campaign for students and a paddy cultivation campaign.

Buses were also seen packed with passengers violating COVID-19 guidelines.
