In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old businessman was allegedly lured by a woman he met on Telegram and then assaulted and robbed by three unidentified youths. The incident took place on March 3 in Bengaluru’s J.P. Nagar 5th Stage.
According to the complainant, he was introduced to a woman named Meher on Telegram and they had exchanged mobile numbers. Meher had claimed that she was looking for a partner for courtship as her husband worked in Dubai. On March 3, the complainant sent a photo and her location and was called to the Amina Manzil building in J.P. Nagar 5th Stage.
Upon entering the house, the woman asked him to sit in the bedroom. However, after some time, three unidentified youths suddenly appeared and threatened the complainant. They assaulted him and even threatened to parade him naked on the road, if he did not pay them Rs 3 lakhs. They also snatched the complainant’s mobile phone, and forcefully transferred Rs 21,500 through PhonePe.
When the complainant said that he was unable to pay the rest of the money as he had left his credit card at home, they took him out to get his card in the evening. During this, the complainant said, he managed to escape.
The businessman has since lodged a complaint with the Puttenahalli police station, and the police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
