Bengaluru: Cops accused of harassing people with false charges; victims approach HC

Bengaluru: Five police officials of Hulimavu station, Bengaluru have been accused of harassing people with false charges.

The victims have approached the high court, and have asked the court to take legal action against these five policemen and pay a compensation of Rs 2 crore to them.

The accused are police sub-inspector of Hulimavu station, Mehboob Pasha, and constables, Praveen, Rajashekhar, Shailesh and Chandashekhar. The petitioners are Yarab, Mushtaq Pasha, Afroze and Syed

On January 14, Police officials visited the scrap shop run by Yarab and assaulted him. They also barged into other houses and forcibly took them to the police station.

They then began to threaten them with false cases and demand Rs 25 lac from them. Later, family members handed over Rs 15 lac to the police officials after which they were let go.

Victims claim even after paying the amount constable Chandrashekhar collected Rs 4,000 from them via digital payment app.
