Bengaluru: A man from Bengaluru was allegedly honey-trapped into going nude over a video call and was blackmailed by scammers.
They extorted Rs. 5 lakh from the victim under the pretext of sharing his nude video with his family members and friends.
It is said that the man started to regularly chat with a woman on social media and exchanged mobile numbers. Soon, the woman and the victim also began to chat via WhatsApp.
The woman then asked the victim to make a video call to her. During the video chat, the man found that the girl was naked. The man also removed his clothes and started chatting with the girl.
The accused person then started threatening the complainant by sending him screenshots and videos of the nude video call. The victim, however, ignored the calls and did not send them money.
A few days later, the victim received another call from a person claiming to be a CBI officer. The man on call claimed that a woman has committed suicide and her death note mentions his (victim’s) name. The man further claimed that they found a nude video of the victim on the girl’s phone.
They demanded Rs 5 lakh from the victim to close the case. The victim immediately sent him the money but the threats did not stop.
The victim then registered a complaint at the nearby police station.
