Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Kodigehalli police team for allegedly blackmailing a woman and capturing her private pictures.
The accused has been identified as Abhishek alias Sushanth Jain, a resident of HSR Layout and from Chhattisgarh. The accused had made a fake profile and contacted the woman on Tinder.
Jain took down her address and met her at her flat. He then demanded sexual favours and also convinced her to remove her clothes.
After leaving the flat, he immediately demanded money from her to buy a mobile charger. Later, he sent her nude photos which he had taken without her knowledge, and threatened to leak them.
He demanded Rs 8,000 from the woman. She approached the Kodigehalli police officials and registered a case against him.
Police officials managed to track the accused and arrested him. It is said that he had earlier committed similar offences.
Taking to Twitter, DCP (North East Division) Anoop A Shetty warned people about fake profiles and urged people to report blackmail attempts.
