Amid rising cases of Omicron variant, the state government has decided to depute marshalls at all major churches in Bengaluru in order to assist the management in controlling the gathering and implementing the Covid guidelines.

The authorities have entrusted the responsibility of maintaining Covid guidelines to respective police, district and corporation commissioners to ensure that no huge crowds gather during this period.

The state government has allowed for mass prayers to be held inside the church premises while ensuring social distancing norms. The use of public places, roads, parks to be used for Christmas celebrations has however been restricted.

BBMP sources also explained that the churches have been issued with a circular to undertake all required measures to prevent the spread of the infection during mass prayers.

They have also been asked to consult BBMP ward officers if any assistance is required.

Issuing the guidelines for the conduct of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the state government on December 21 said that large gatherings at M.G.Road, Brigade Road, and surrounding areas in Bengaluru have been banned this time. Any public celebration and special events too have been banned in any part of the state.

As far as clubs, pubs are concerned, DJ music, special events are not allowed. The entry has been restricted to 50 percent capacity. Large-scale parties are also not allowed anywhere in the state
