Police busted a drug peddling racket in Bengaluru with the arrest of 11 persons, including five foreigners and seized drugs valued at Rs 11 crore from their possession.

Mohammad Haroon, Mohammad Oruvil, Mohammad Ilyas, Abdur Abu, Ahmed Mohammad Musa, Munshansheed, Mohammad Bilal, John Paul, Joseph Benjamin, and Ismail are the arrested persons. Police said that the arrested foreign nationals hailing from Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria and the Central African Republic had come to the state for pursuing their education and employment. They however continued to stay after the expiry of their visas and took to drug peddling, police said.

The raid was carried out by personnel of the Cubbon Park police station and Ashoknagar police station.

Bengaluru police Director General Praveen Sood appreciated the efforts of the team in curbing the drug menace and wrote: “Excellent catch. War against drugs continues.”
