Bengaluru: Tense situation at university campus after foreign student falls to death

Bengaluru: A 24-year-old engineering student, hailing from Uganda died after falling from the sixth floor of the residential facility on Wednesday night at the Gitam University here.
The deceased identified as Haseena was pursuing the final year of her engineering course.
A tense situation prevailed at the university campus following her death amid rumors that she committed suicide. Witnesses said that a few students vandalised the college and hostel building and the situation was brought under control after police intervention.
According to IANS report quoting police sources said the victim accidentally slipped and fell while she was trying to pick up a clothing item that had fallen on a sheet at the edge of the building. She was rushed to a hospital but died en route. Her body has been kept at a private hospital in Doddaballapur.
Students from across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and also abroad are currently studying engineering on the campus.
Earlier, there was a dispute between students from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for a week.
