Bengaluru: After a long wait of 12 years, three men wanted in a serial robbery case were arrested by the DJ Halli police.
The arrested have been identified as Kaval Byrasandra resident Murali (42), Shivaramu (39), and Siraj (31). Police said Rs 7 lakh cash and 240-gram gold jewelry worth Rs 22 lakh were recovered from the accused.
Murali alias Project, the ring leader of the gang, introduced himself to be a software engineer despite being a 7th std school dropout, police said. He had masterminded the serial thefts at the houses of school-going children in 2011, police added.
Modus Operandi
Trio used quite unique method for carrying out robberies. They surveilled the houses when the parents would drop off or pick up children from school and rob them on the next day, police claimed.
The accused were well versed with the art of making duplicate keys. They could estimate the size, shape, and make of the key easily and would make 3 to 4 duplicate keys just by eyeballing the keys when the homeowners locked the door or take out the key bunch. They would then use these fake keys to gain entry into the homes of the targets and make away with the valuable, police said.
