Humnabad: In an early morning operation, police officers raided the houses of PFI and SDPI leaders on Tuesday and arrested two.

PFI district president Abdul Karim and SDPI district secretary Sheikh Maqsood were among the arrested.

It is learned that two police teams raided the leaders’ house simultaneously at around 4 AM on Tuesday.

They were produced before the Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate) and were remanded to jail.

The arrested had led a protest against the nation-wide NIA and ED raids of PFI and SDPI affiliates on September 23. The duo had allegedly made inflammatory speeches during the protests.

Tuesday’s arrests are connected to these speeches, sources said. However, this is yet to be officially confirmed by the police.
