Bikaner police cracks down on criminals, arrests 34

In an early morning crackdown, Bikaner police on Sunday raided various places in the district and arrested 34 criminals in connection with various cases, officials said.

Illegal weapons and liquor were also recovered from the arrested accused, including a member of the Anandpal Singh gang and an aide of gangster Rohit Godara, the police officials said.

Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said 95 teams comprising 500 policemen and 60 vehicles conducted raids at several places in the district and arrested 34 criminals of different gangs.

Twelve vehicles, illegal firearms, live cartridges and a bulletproof jacket were recovered during the operation, she said.

One of the arrested criminals, Raju Singh, was nabbed in Gajner area with six illegal firearms, 44 live cartridges and a bulletproof jacket.

The arms and the bulletproof jacket were given to him by notorious gangster Anandpal, who was killed in a police encounter in Churu district in June 2017, and he had been using them since then.

A history-sheeter, Sukhdev Dhawal, who was in touch with Rohit Godara and Guthli gangs, was also arrested, the police said.

Hariom Ramawat, an aide of gangster Rohit Godara, was also arrested. He was wanted in various cases, including the murder of gangster Raju Thehat in Sikar in December last year, they said.

A pistol with four live cartridges was recovered from Ramawat’s possession, they added.

Inspector General, Bikaner range, Omprakash said 314 criminals, against whom there were standing warrants in various cases, have been arrested in the last one month under a special campaign being run on the directions of Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh M N.
