Kasaragod: A youth has been arrested by customs officials after he was caught red-handed transporting huge amount of unaccounted cash in a KSRTC bus to Kerala on Friday May 31st. The officials also seized the Rs 80 lakh in his possession.
The accused has been identified as Mayur Bharat Deshmukh (23), a native of Maharashtra.
The personnel of Badiyakda excise squad were conducting search operations in the said bus which was plying from Bengaluru to Kasaragod, when the accused was found with Rs 80 lakh in cash that was stuffed in the pockets of his pant, shirt and jacket. The notes were of Rs 2,000 face value.
The accused revealed that the money was given to him by one Dhanji Yadav in Bengaluru to be delivered to a person named Sachin Kedar in Kozhikode. A month ago he had also delivered Rs 80 lakh in cash to a jewellery shop in Kasaragod, he said.

In the backdrop of the information that ganja was being transported via buses from Karnataka, the excise officials started inspection from the night of May 30. In the course of the inspection, the nexus of black money transport surfaced. The arrested accused revealed that he was provided a salary of Rs 10,000 per month plus additional expenses for transporting the money this way.
