Bengaluru police arrested an upcoming Kannada actor for allegedly extorting money from a 73-year-old industrialist after honey-trapping him.

Yuvaraj, a J P Nagar resident stands arrested while four others, including 2 women identified as Kavana and Nidhi have been booked for their involvement in the case.

According to an IANS report, the industrialist got acquainted with accused Kavana four years ago and it was she who introduced him to Nidhi recently. The industrialist kept in contact with them over WhatsApp messages.

Reportedly the women used to send their explicit photos to the elderly man. In one such chat, Nidhi allegedly asked the industrialist to meet her at a certain place on August 3. However, when he reached the spot, two persons, who claimed to be special wing police officers got inside his car.

They told the industrialist that a complaint had been lodged regarding his WhatsApp messages to Nidhi and Kavana and they could hush up the case if he would give them money.

Accordingly, the man paid them Rs 3.40 lakh once and later had given Rs 6 lakh to the accused. Later, they extorted Rs 5 lakh more by threatening to share the screenshots of his chat with his family members. When the accused continued to demand money, the industrialist lodged a police complaint with Halasuru Gate police.

As per the police probe, Yuvaraj had noticed the messages exchanged between the industrialist and his friends Nidhi and Kavana and he began sending lewd messages to the industrialist while posing as Nidhi.

He planned the honey trap and extortion. Police are suspecting that accused Kavana and Nidhi aided Yuvaraj and gathered information on two strangers who posed themselves as cops and indulged in extortion.
