Mangaluru: The woman who had been severely injured in the BMW car crash has been declared brain dead by the doctors.

On April 9, the victim, Preethi Manoj, was riding on a two-wheeler when a speeding BMW jumped the divider and crushed her under its wheels. Following the accident, she was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

Preethi’s family members decided to donate her organs after she was declared brain dead.

It may be recalled that the incident was caught on CCTV and showed the rashly driven BMW knocking the woman off her scooty after it crashed into her.

Three cars and two bikes were also damaged after the driver of the BMW car lost control and jumped the divider. The incident took place at Ballal Bagh Junction in the city of Dakshina Kannada district.

After the accident, the passers-by pulled the driver, Shravan Devadiga, out of the BMW car and thrashed him before the police arrived at the spot.
