Mangaluru: A memorial must be built for IPS officer Madhukar Shetty and the glorious and uncompromised career of MR Shetty must be narrated to all, said former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde.

“I am shocked by this death because I always thought that he was going to serve the nation for a very long time. He could never be lured into doing anything wrong or corrupt,” said Justice Hegde and added that he was ready to make financial support for the memorial.

He recalled Shetty’s integrity as a police officer and said that when the government decided to give a site to Madhukar Shetty for being part of the SIT in Veerappan case, the officer refused to accept the site stating he was drawing salary from the government for doing his duty.
