Burglary at Silver store: Ex-worker among three arrested by police

Bengaluru: Three persons have been arrested by Chamarajpete police in connection with a theft at a silver shop here.

The arrested are identified as Rahul Jain, a resident of Nagarbhavi; Rajesh and Madhu, both residents of SG Palya. The police confiscated a bike, Rs 3,38,000 in cash, and silver bullion worth 8 kg from the accused’s possession.

The store, located at Brindavan in the city used to tailor-make ornaments as per customer specifications. On May 21 night, the accused gained entry into the shop and conducted the theft. The next day morning when the store owner opened the shop he noticed the burglary and notified police.

Based on the CCTV footage, police apprehended Rahul based on suspicion and he admitted to the crime during questioning.

Police said that Rahul was previously employed at the store for over two years and had knowledge of where the jewellery and cash were kept. He planned the robbery and roped in two of his co-workers at the garment factory where he presently worked to execute the theft.
