By-election results: DK Congress, JD(S) celebrate victory

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada (DK) district unit of Congress held victory celebrations in front of its party office at Mallikatte, after the party gained a grand victory of 4-1 against BJP in the by-elections on Tuesday, November 6th.

MLC Ivan D’Souza spoke on the occasion and said, “BJP was trying its level best to destabilize coalition government in the state. BJP is in shock after voters voted for the coalition candidates in four constituencies out of five. This victory is a gift for Congress on the occasion of Deepavali.”

The MLC assured that the coalition government will continue and that Congress will gain a upper hand in upcoming Lok Sabha elections

JD(S) Celebrations

The district JD(S) committee also celebrated the JD(S)-Congress bypoll victory at their office in Bendoorwell in the city on Tuesday, November 6th. Vasanth Poojary, President, Mangaluru South addressed the party workers and said, “By this election, the voter of the state has directly sent a warning to state and central BJP leadership that their communal and money politics will not work in Karnataka. By winning 4-1 against BJP, JD (S)-Congress coalition has proved that it has won the hearts of the people of the state. It is the victory of state government’s people-friendly projects and CM H D Kumaraswamy’s pro-development attitude. With this election, Narendra Modi and his party’s communal agenda is defeated.”

JD(S) Spokesperson Sushil Noronha spoke on the occasion and said, “This is trial of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Throughout India, BJP and its allies are going to lose. The price hike for essential items, implementation of GST and effects of Demonetization reflected in this election and people rejected the central government’s Tughlak policies.”
