CCB raids matka gambling den, arrests five

Mangaluru: CCB police arrested five persons after conducting raid at a matka gambling den in the city.
The arrested are identified as Nandan S Nayak (35), a resident of Attavara; Prashant (47), a resident of Mannagudde; Anil Kumar (44), a Urva resident; Dinakar Alva (44), resident of Kodialbail and Anil Kumar (42), a resident of Kavoor.
The police seized cash worth Rs 30,130, betting slips and five mobile phones from their possession during the raid.
Matka gambling or satta is a form of betting and lottery which originally involved betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton transmitted from the New York Cotton Exchange to the Bombay Cotton Exchange.
